You know that at Sundvick Legacy Center we are committed to protecting our clients’ assets, spouses and children. September is a national awareness month that is focusing on children, family and spouses. We focus on that every day of every month of every year. Keeping our clients educated on relevant subjects is part of what we strive for. We do the research so you are kept informed.
We recently have noticed that due to the increased home buying activity in Las Vegas, new home owners are receiving solicitations to file for a Homestead protection of their homes. While Homestead protection is a good thing, we have also learned that some of these solicitations are not legitimate and are designed to separate you and your money. If you or someone you know is a new home owner in Las Vegas, please be alert to any emails, letters or phone calls offering to provide this service for you. It has been brought to our attention that in some cases, homeowners are receiving very official looking letters using scare tactics to entice the homeowner to fill out a form with personal information and send a check or credit card number. As a point of fact, NEVER send a check or give out personal information unless you are absolutely certain to whom you are sending it. This goes for email as well. NEVER click on links in an email if you aren’t certain why you are receiving that information and please do not send any personal information over email.
We want to talk to you and/or your friends and family members who have recently purchased a home and explain what the Homestead protection is and why it’s a good thing when you do it with a reputable estate planning attorney. It is our mission to keep you protected and informed. At Sundvick Legacy Center we stand behind the words; authenticity, integrity and accountability. Do not hesitate to call us if you are uncertain about something you have received and please pass this article on to others you know to alert them as well.
